One editor
A named editor follows your book from first read to final proof
Gilding a spine by hand, from the film Bookbinders (Norwood Studios, about 1961).
We work with first-time novelists, seasoned writers of non-fiction, researchers turning a thesis into a monograph, and departments publishing their own series. Each book gets the same sequence: an honest read, a written plan, and your approval at every stage.

Everything a book needs
Choose one service or the whole sequence. Each is quoted on its own, in writing, after we have read your manuscript.
Developmental, line and copy editing, then a final proofread on the typeset pages. Every change is tracked, so you accept or decline each one.
Cover design
Front, spine and back designed as one wrap for your trim size and page count, delivered in the exact files each printer and retailer asks for.
Formatting and typesetting
Interiors set in proper book type: considered margins, running heads, widows and orphans resolved, tables and figures placed by hand.
eBook publishing
Reflowable ePub 3 and Kindle files checked on real reading devices, with a working table of contents and described images for screen readers.
Distribution support
ISBN and metadata guidance, then upload support for Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Apple Books, Kobo and Google Play Books under your own accounts.
Sample editions
Three books designed for this site to show the range of the work: a novel, a research monograph and a collection of essays. Titles and authors are illustrative.
The Salt Ledger
Sample edition: a literary novel
A 6 × 9 in paperback and ePub. The jacket is a single field of oxblood with the title set large; inside, chapter openers fall on right-hand pages and the text is set in a classic book serif at 11 on 15 points.
Tidal Commons
Sample edition: a research monograph
A 7 × 10 in hardcover for a university series, with 42 figures redrawn to one style, endnotes in Chicago author-date, a full subject index and an open-access PDF edition.
Small Rooms, Long Winters
Sample edition: a book of essays
A 5 × 8 in paperback with French flaps. Short essays set with generous margins, section breaks marked by space alone, and a Kindle edition that keeps the same quiet rhythm.
Your name on the spine
Set your book’s size and length and see its paperback spine and full cover wrap, measured the way a printer measures them.
A spine of 0.750 in (19.0 mm)
A full cover wrap of 13.000 × 9.250 in, with bleed
Calculated from cream paper at 0.0025 in per page, the figure Amazon KDP publishes. Other printers vary slightly; we confirm the final figure with yours.
From manuscript to book
Every book moves through the same three stages. Nothing goes forward until you have seen it and said yes, and you always know which stage you are in.
Read
Send your manuscript and your goals. We read it and reply with a written plan, schedule and quote.
Make
Editing, cover and typesetting, each returned to you to approve before the next stage begins.
Release
You sign off the final proofs. We deliver every file and help you list the book where you choose.
Publishing for scholars and institutions
Research deserves the same finish as any trade book, and it carries obligations a novel does not: citations that resolve, figures that survive reduction, an index a reader can trust. We work to your field’s conventions and your institution’s requirements.

Questions authors ask
Do I keep the rights to my book?
Yes. You publish under your own name or imprint, on retailer accounts in your name, and you keep your copyright and your royalties. We are paid for the services we provide, never through a share of your sales.
How much does publishing cost?
Each book is quoted on its own after we have read the manuscript, because a 60,000-word novel and an illustrated textbook need very different work. The quote is written and itemised, and nothing begins until you have agreed it.
How long does it take?
That depends on the length of the book and the services you choose. Your plan gives a date for every stage, and each stage starts only when you have approved the one before it.
Can you publish my thesis or research?
Yes. We revise dissertations into books for a wider academic reader, prepare monographs, edited volumes and proceedings, and produce open-access editions. Citations are checked against the style guide your field or publisher requires.
Do I need an ISBN?
A print book sold through retailers needs its own ISBN for each format, so a paperback and a hardcover need one each. In most countries they come from your national ISBN agency; we explain the options and enter the metadata with you.
Which files will I receive?
A print-ready interior PDF, the full cover wrap for your trim size and page count, ePub 3 and Kindle files where you publish an eBook, and the editable source files, so you can reprint or revise without us.
Your manuscript deserves an exceptional future
Tell us what you are writing and where it stands. We reply with a written plan and a quote, and there is no obligation to go ahead.
What happens next
We read what you send, including any sample chapters you attach later by email.
You receive a written plan: the services your book needs, a schedule and an itemised quote.
You decide. Nothing is booked and nothing is charged until you accept the quote.
